How Tandem™ improves listening

Tandem can be programmed as a CROS(Contralateral Routing of Signal) or BiCROS(Bilateral Contralateral Routing of Signal) solution, depending on whether the better ear also has some degree of hearing loss.

CROS - Since the better ear has normal hearing, the receiver hearing instrument (HI) microphone is turned off. The receiver HI accepts the signal from the transmitter HI and presents it to the better ear.

BiCROS - Microphones in both the transmitter and receiver hearing instruments (HI) are active. These signals are added together and then amplified to be audible in the better hearing ear.
