Mary Youngman RHAD, FSHAA

Hello, I trained as a hearing aid audiologist after I completed a psychology degree Bsc (Hons). I really enjoy working in this industry, the new technology is ever changing and improving. 

When I first started working with hearing instruments the only way to alter the gain was turning a potentiometer with a screwdriver and now it's amazing how today's software enables me to fine tune to the individual requirements. The new technology really gives me a buzz exciting times to be working in.  I am a fellow of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and registered with the Health Professional Council. I have also worked within a Public-Private Partnership scheme for the NHS.  On a personal note I have a wide range of hobbies and three grandchildren whom I adore.

Janine Appleby RHAD, FSHAA

I have been in the hearing aid industry since 1998, initially as a practice manager for a private hearing aid clinic.  In 2001 I trained as a hearing aid audiologist and passed the Hearing Aid Council examinations with merit. Subsequently working in the private hearing aid sector, providing a high level of service. I am a fellow of the British Society of Hearing aid Audiologist (BSHAA)  and am registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC).  I have also worked within a Private-Public-Partnership scheme for the NHS.

I have a particular interest in the fast-moving technical developments in digital hearing aids and communication devices, which are always interesting and constantly evolving.

I have a secret ambition to be a photographer, one day!......at present I am a busy wife, mother and gardener.

I am writing on behalf of my 92 year old father, Mr Ralph Hunt. He has acute hearing loss and has moved to Colchester this year from Salisbury, to be close to family. He had NHS aids but his hearing was still poor. He lives in Sheltered accommodation and was finding it difficult to make new friends but with his new hearing aids, the weekly coffee mornings are a pleasure and they have made it easier for him to socialise.
